Liftoff!
The Lillian Vallely Youth Foundation is going full throttle. What does that mean?
Grant applications are being submitted by teachers, Indian educators, and education groups.
The first grant was frugally used to help with supplies for a cultural program in the Blackfoot Idaho School District.
The Board of Directors is carefully monitoring each request for its value, feasibility, and educational impact. Our Awards committee includes Tribal members and educators to ensure the best results from the grant applications we receive.
As you would expect, Covid restrictions had a big impact on student cultural activities. There were none. A large void was created because people could not get together or to effectively raise funds. Culture is a large part of Native identity, especially for the children finding their way. Our Foundation has been able to help bring normalcy back into student life through helping traditional cultural celebrations. The first one is pictured here, the Blackfoot Native American Club sponsoring a traditional Princess selection from three schools. Applications for academic and STEM programs are also being submitted. This website will continue to be updated with photos and back stories of the achievements of Native students YOU are helping. Thank you!
