Members of the Board

Colin Folsom, Director

Colin has worked for the Blackfoot School District since 2005. He taught at Groveland Elementary for 3 years prior to becoming an administrator. He has been the principal at Blackfoot Heritage Sixth Grade for the last 7 years. Prior to becoming an educator, Colin worked as a Unit Director for the Boys & Girls Club of America in Utica, NY for 3 years. Colin and his wife, Tracy, have been married for 26 years and have lived in Blackfoot for 22 years. Tracy has been an elementary school teacher at Stoddard Elementary for 11 years and will get to work at Blackfoot’s newly completed Riverbend Elementary School this fall. They have four children, a daughter and 3 sons. Their oldest was the librarian at Fort Hall Elementary prior to becoming an English Teacher at Blackfoot High School.

Helping others and being involved in the community has long been a priority in Colin’s life. He was a board member with the United Way of Southeast Idaho for 7 years. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he has had many opportunities to work with youth and help others. He served a two-year mission in San Diego, California and volunteered as a Boy Scout leader for over 10 years.

Earlier this year, Colin was presented with a Mayoral Coin from Blackfoot’s mayor, Marc Carrol, for his efforts in raising money for the Blackfoot Community Pantry. Blackfoot Heritage Sixth Grade does an annual fund drive called Coins for Turkeys. Each year, the school raises money to purchase 150 turkeys for holiday food baskets for families in need and donates all additional funds to the Blackfoot Community Pantry.
