Joy L. Mickelsen, Director

INTRODUCTION

My name is Joy Mickelsen. I am currently in my 32nd year in public education. I taught for 24 years and I am the current Federal Programs Director, Assessment Director and grant writer for the Blackfoot School District. I have done private consulting for over 18 years and have an extensive background supporting Native American schools.

I was a Reading First Facilitator for the State Department of Idaho. I recently presented at the state Family and Community Engagement Conference and I have been on the SDE board for Migrant/EL Education.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Federal Programs Director: Blackfoot School District #55, 2016 – present

  • Manage Title I-A, Title I-C, Title II, Title III, Title VI and McKinney-Vento programs.

  • Write and approve the CFSGA plan annually.

  • Oversee SWIP plans for the district.

  • Write and approve the CIP plan.

  • Lead all Federal Programs employees.

  • Lead all schoolwide interventions.

  • Manage federal programs budgets.
