Tammy Underwood, Director
Tammy Underwood is a full-time volunteer who has spent the past several decades devoting her time, energy and talents serving her church, her alma mater, her community and her family. As part of her involvement with the St. Barnabas on the Desert Episcopal Parish, for 30 years Tammy has been Manager and Buyer for the Book and Gift Shop. She has served on the Memorial Fine Arts Acceptance Committee for 25 years, and has been a member of the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Vestry. For the University of Arizona, Tammy spent several years on the Governing Board, and has been an At-Large Representative and a member of the Revenue and Fundraising Committeefor the Alumni Council. She is a Founding Member of the Norton School Board of Advisors, was a Campaign Arizona Presidential Leadership Team Member, and chaired the Wild Night with the Wildcats when she helped lead the Phoenix Alumni Club. During her time as board member for the Phoenix Friends of the Arizona Cancer Center, Tammy served as President, Event Chairman and Secretary. She is a founding member of the Steele Children’s Research Center Phoenix Women’s Board, for whom she was President and Treasurer. Tammy was involved for 10 years with Scottsdale Honors Cotillion, and served as their Program Chairman, Ball Chairman and Coordinator of Program, and was also on the boards of directors for the Scottsdale Educational Enrichment Services and St. Paul’s Academy for many years. She served on several boards for Saguaro and Chaparral High Schools in Scottsdale and chaired Project Graduation for Chaparral. She recently became a board member for the Lillian Vallely School in Blackfoot, Idaho. Awards Tammy has received related to the University of Arizona include: the Alumni Association Sidney P. Woods Alumni Service Award; the Phoenix Alumni Club’s President’s Award for Outstanding Service; the Alumnus of the Year Award for 2010 for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; the Norton School Alumni Achievement Award; nd the Eller and Engineering Technology & Management Lifetime Achievement Award. Tammy also has received an Outstanding Service Award from St. Paul’s Academy. Tammy received a B.S. in Home Economics Education from the University of Arizona. A Phoenix native, she has lived in eight states. She has been married to Jon, her college sweetheart, for over 50 years and is the mother of daughter Terrye and late son Jeffrey.
